Renew Your NHA Certification (7 Steps)
NHA certification renewal is easy with this 7-step guide. Follow the steps, complete CE credits, and check costs and membership perks to stay certified.
NHA certifications offered at DMS: CCMA · CPT · CET · CMAA · CPCT/A · CPhT
Best of all: NHA Membership makes renewal easier
NHA Membership provides comprehensive CE resources, exclusive content, member discounts, and career/community support—with flexible payment options so you can choose a package that fits your needs.
Step 1 — Log in for NHA certification renewal
All NHA-certified professionals have an account. Sign in at nhanow.com with the email you used to create it. Forgotten passwords can be reset on the login screen.
Step 2 — Check your recertification status
Click Renew Certifications on the left. You’ll see each certification and how many CE credits you need to renew.
Step 3 — Choose CE courses
Click Complete More CE and pick topics that match your job and goals.
State note: Some states have specific CE rules; not all courses may be accepted. Check with your state agency.
Membership perk: Members get exclusive CE and access to NHA experts/community for Q&A.
Step 4 — Complete the courses
Review materials and take the short online quiz for each course (much shorter than the initial certification exam). Confirm your progress bar shows a passing score.
* A score of 70%+ is required to receive CE credit.
Step 5 — Track CE credits
Each course is worth 1–2 credits. See totals in My CE History.
- You need 10 credits to renew a certification that has not expired.
- Holding multiple certifications? You still only need 10 total CE credits.
- If your certification expired within the last year, you can reinstate it with 15 total CE credits (additional fee applies).
- Pharmacy Technicians (CPhT) have different requirements—check your NHA account.
External CE: Add outside credits via Add External CE Items in My CE Portfolio. Upload issues? Email continuingeducation@nhanow.com with your name, NHA email, phone, and documentation.
Credit math: NHA uses 1 credit = 2 hours (a 6-hour class = 3 credits).
Step 6 — Pay your recertification fee
Non-members: click Renew and Pay to check out.
How much does it cost?
- Members: After 2 annual payments (annual plan) or 20 months (monthly), your next recertification is covered; otherwise you get 20% off.
- Non-members: First recertification starts around $185; additional credentials renew at a discount.
- Reinstatement (expired): Additional $99 fee applies.
